Kava is made from the roots of piper methysticum plants. These are large leafy plants that grow in the western Pacific. Many studies have shown that kava reduces anxiety as good as common anti-anxiety pills on the market. This tea is very strong, and does have sedative type effects. The problem with this tea is that there are a lot of side effects if you take too much of it. Studies have shown that it is related to liver failure, hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver. Before consuming this tea it is important to consult with your doctor because although it will treat your anxiety it could have more serious side effects.

Lemon Balm

This type of tea is soothing and relaxing. Lemon balm tea is made from the leaves of a plant belonging to the mint family. This tea actually affects your nervous system by decreasing stress making you less nervous. It can also put you in a calming state when you are upset.

 Valerian Root

Valerian root is known to help with insomnia but it also reduces tension. This tea reduces both emotional and physical tension that we have built up throughout the day which then helps us to relax. The relaxing effects of this tea reduce your symptoms caused by anxiety. It allows you to sleep, it clears your mind and lowers tension. If you take this tea it is important to consume it at night. Since it is used for insomnia it makes you drowsy so it should be consumed within 2 hours of bedtime to avoid dangerous situations like falling asleep at the wheel.
